Academic Tutor in Digital Business

Location: South Tyneside, Tyne and Wear, UK
Reports to: Director of Learning and Development
Salary Bracket: £25,500-£31,500
Job Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Academic Tutor in Digital Business to join our vibrant academic team. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching, contribute to curriculum development, and engage in impactful research that enhances both theoretical knowledge and practical applications in the field of business management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver engaging online lectures, seminars, and workshops across business management programs.
  • Use innovative and inclusive teaching practices to facilitate active learning and student engagement.
  • Supervise research projects and independent studies from level 4 and above.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of business management modules and courses, ensuring they remain relevant and up to date with industry standards.
  • Incorporate digital tools, experiential learning methods, and case studies in course delivery to develop a practical understanding of business management principles.
  • Engage in research that complements and enhances the organisation’s strengths, aiming for publication in reputable academic journals and conferences.
  • Pursue external funding for research projects and collaborations with industry partners.
  • Participate in professional development and academic networks to stay current in the field.
  • Build and maintain relationships with industry professionals, creating partnerships that provide opportunities for students (e.g., internships, guest speakers, and collaborative projects).
  • Encourage students to apply theory to real-world business problems through live projects, consultancy, or research activities.
  • Actively participate in mentoring, tutoring, and assessment feedback to support student development.
  • Contribute to the administration of the organisation, including participation in advisory meetings, assessment centre consultation, and recruitment activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Edu Connects policies and procedures in teaching, research, and student management.

Essential Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Business Management or a related discipline.
  • Proven teaching experience in further or higher education, with a commitment to delivering excellent student outcomes.
  • Strong research profile, with a track record of publications or potential to contribute to impactful research.
  • Ability to design and deliver innovative, inclusive, and engaging learning experiences in-person and online.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and scholarly engagement.

Desirable:

  • Doctoral degree (or near completion) in Business Management, or a related field.
  • Professional experience in business management or industry experience related to business management.
  • Membership in relevant professional bodies (e.g., Chartered Management Institute, Academy of Management).
  • Teaching Certification (e.g., Certified Business and Management Educator, Fellowship in Higher Education)
  • PGCE or formally recognised Education and Training Qualification
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms, such as Canvas and Blackboard
